The importance of forensic entomology has been growing more in the process of collecting evidence in criminal scene. The study of the arthropods succession in the different stages of cadaveric decomposition is relevant to calculate the estimate of the minimum Postmortem Interval (minPMl) and determine any phenomena of cadaveric decomposition processes according to the type of climate or surrounding environment, essential for identification of crime scene. The objective of this study is to identify the different decomposition stages and to verify the forensic entomological succession concerning the animal model - corpse of a regional bird (Gallus gallus domesticus) with the simulation of feathers as if it were the clothes of a human being. This is a study realized through the analysis of decomposition stages by daily cadaver observation records with animal model referred above. The data of the meteorological conditions were also recorded daily for the correlation with the decomposition rate and had description about surrounding botanic. The arthropods were collected and transported to the laboratory for family identification and match the stages of corpse decomposition. This observation was compared with previous forensic entomological studies. We could confirm that the decomposition stage and the succession of arthropods in previous studies were, in general, concordant However, there are variables that can influence the decomposition rate of the cadaver, such as its size, presence or absence of feather and climatic conditions which can limit the accuracy of the results. This study is among the first experiments aiming to study the entomofauna succession on bird model in District of Aveiro, Portugal. This model is cheap and easy to obtain and similar to the small human corpse for this observation research in the field. The development of regional studies allows to understand influence of environmental, climatic and corpse variables related to the crime scene.
