ANÁLISE DE VESTÍGIOS, ARMA DE FOGO E MUNIÇÕES, ESPECTROMETRIA, MICROSCOPIA ELECTRÓNICA, MÉTODO DE INVESTIGAÇÃO A study of the distribution of gunshot residue originating from a hunting rifle on knitted cotton fabric depending on shooting distance was performed using scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry, X-ray fluorescence micro-spectrometry, and micro-computed tomography. An information on the mechanism of interactions of the projectile and combustion gases together with solid gunshot residue and cotton knitted fabric was obtained in both macro and micro scale. Characterisation of the systems of spherical inorganic gunshot particles and comparison to these originating from small arms provided an experimental confirmation that their properties as well as their movement and suspension in the air being described according to the stokes law are similar to each other. This finding provided a scientific contribution to reasoning on shooting distance from the identification of gunshot residue as the only evidence in cases, when reference firearm and ammunition are not available for forensic examinations. |
