FILOSOFIA DO DIREITO, JUSTIÇA, IGUALDADE, GLOBALIZAÇÃO DA ECONOMIA

Globalization must be responsive to the challenges posed by global justice issues. Global market integration and trade have been pushed through deregulation, the creation of private norms and sector specific institutions with limited normative competence. Although in the foreseeable future there will be no world government, whether is possible to achieve a just and fair world orderremains a very pertinent question. The author notes that globalisation has gone hand in hand with the upraise of new identity claims-. This has been a consequence of a market dynamic that marginalised the search for more balanced distributive outcomes. The author does not deny that globalisation has succeeded in reducing the gap between rich countries and some poor countries, which have improved their economic conditions in the last decades. Nonetheless, the levels of inequality within countries have grown as a consequence of globalisation, and will keep growing, unless issues of distributive justice are squarely address at the global level, and theories of global economic justice are fully developed. Political philosophy is exploring this possibility. The author highlights the importance of this contribution for law as well.
