Rebecca Dobash, Kate Cavanagh, Russel Dobash and Ruth Lewis present qualitative data from a three year evaluation project, which indicated that criminal justice based re-education programmes can lead to significant change in violent men. Using data gathered exclusively from men who had participated in the programmes and their female partners, they discuss the nature and processes of change, and the specific implications for social work and probation practitioners.
