Throughout the 1980s we have seen a steady growth in the development of inter-agency initiatives to prevent crime and to reduce the fear of crime. This booklet is intended to provide guidance on setting up successful crime prevention schemes. It describes how a number of communities have identified problems in their midst and have pooled their skills and resources to tackle them. These examples are drawn from England and Wales, but there are successful schemes in operation in Scotland and Northern Ireland as well.
