CRIANÇA DEFICIENTE MENTAL

The writer describes the system of boarding-out mentally deficient children and adults as practised in Gheel (Belgium) for centuries past. The origin of this system is, according to an old legend, to be sought in the story of Saint Dymphne, an Irish princess, who took refoge in Gheel and afterwards became the patron saint of the mentally unbalanced.
