The objective of this article is to describe the development of expertise in the frame of social educational care work. This process is demonstrated in a group of adult students in Satakunta Polytechnic Pori Finland. The school formed a training group for new approach of psychosocial work. As a starting point for the development work was a process of creating an innovative training product for further education. This product can be used and realized in different kinds of learning situations according to a learner's life situation. The core of the learning process is to support the coping skills in various client groups and in different life situations by sharing a specialized knowledge and experiences. For the study plan of psycho-social work a three-phased model of problem-based learning was formed. The process is based on real life situations and problems arising from them.
