Current knowledge relating to child neglect points to the exixtence of a rather absurde paradox. On one hand has been shown to have a higher incidence rate than abuse. On the other hand is the most understudied and consequently the least understood type of maltreatment. This is commonly referred to as the "neglect of neglect" .
