The article assesses in comparative law terms the degree of emphasis that law of international civil procedure is provided under two civil procedure codifications recently enacted in Portugal (2013) and Brazil (2015). After a cursory characterization of the background situation envisaged by these two legal orders as far as law of international civil procedure is concerned, the A. compares their views on international jurisdiction (with a special focus on the basis for jurisdiction and exclusive competences) and on effects of foreign court decisions (with an emphasis on the characterization of the recognition system and the conditions on which it relies). The A. concludes with a characterization of the attitude of the two codifications vis-à-vis the law of international civil procedure.
