The approach of this paper, which aims to illustrate the air and maritime transport issues directly concerned by EU law from the point of view of private law, has suggested that the author should focus on topics pertaining to air and maritime transport of passengers. First of all, the paper analyzes the air carrier’s liability for damages caused to the passenger, with particular reference to the provisions of EC Regulation no. 2027/97; then, specific attention is paid to the liability in the event of denied boarding and of cancellation or long delay of flights. With reference to maritime transport, the paper focuses on the issue of the liability of carriers of passengers by sea in the event of accidents in the light of EC Regulation no. 392/2009, as well as on the issue of rights of passengers, with particular reference to the cancellation or delay of the journey. Finally, particular attention is paid to the issue of the rights of disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility in air and maritime transport.
